Résumé du colloque

Considerable attention has recently focused upon the development of effective parenting programs for normal and high risk parents. In particular, techniques and methods designed to help parents acquire those parenting skills viewed as necessary for the development of physically, psychologically and emotionally healthy young children have been developed. Longitudinal research data concerning the effects of various early intervention programs have begun to appear in the educational and psychological literature. This presentation will examine alternative models used to facilitate effective parenting skills with normal parents and those experiencing psychopathological disorders. The clinical intervention programs and the research findings from the McGill University Ready Set Go Parent Education - Child Enrichment Project will be provided. The clinical and social policy issues concerning early intervention will be discussed.
