Résumé du colloque

Get is a ubiquitous verb in English. It appears in one of its forms – get, gets, getting, got, gotten – in a great variety of contexts and it plays a number of very different roles in discourse. The subject of my present thesis is an examination of get as a verb of transition or change of state in which get is situated with respect to be, a verb of state, and become, a verb of transition, two verbs for which get can sometimes be substituted. At this point in time I am considering the different ways in which to tackle the problem so it can be solved. The purpose of this presentation is an exploration of these different avenues.
