Résumé du colloque

Fifteen morphometric and seven meristic characters were studied on 445 lake chars from its range of distribution. In particular, the lake char from the Pacific drainage differed, significance tested statistically at 5% level, from those of the Arctic, Hudson Bay, and Atlantic drainages in the total number of vertebrae, gill rakers, branchiostegals, head length, predorsal fin length, and some other characters. Some significant differences were also noticed among other drainages and among populations of the Pacific, Arctic and Atlantic drainages. It is suggested that the lake char survived the last glaciation in Alaska, possibly other unglaciated areas in the north, and as well in southern refugia.
