Résumé de la communication

The cultural legacy from the indigenous ancestors and the colonial cruelties have made of Latin America a very particular region regarding the traditional backgrounds of genders social behavior. This region is for instance known for the “macho” image of men that leads to male chauvinism. From a cultural perspective where religion plays an important role, there is a widespread assumption that masculinity is superior to femininity. Therefore the introduction of Women Empowerment Programs could be seen as Equal Employment Opportunities initiatives because they leverage the gender inequalities produced in the labor market. This paper intends to analyze the organizational and social impact of the Diversity Management evolution focused on gender equality and women empowerment in a Peruvian multinational company as it is a model of good practices in Latin America.
