Résumé du colloque

Many new image and media networks are presently being created in what is metaphorically described as Cyberspace. This has resulted in new forms of distribution but has also begun to affect the aesthetic choices being made in the domains of cinema, television and communications in general. Freenets are a good example of this process at work. They make it possible to distribute a wide variety of images, texts, and sounds within local communities and across local, national and international boundaries. The results have also altered the ways in which modern media operate, expanding the flow, organization and purpose of information transfer. Structural, organizational and aesthetic changes will be examined by this panel in the hope that new interpretive strategies can be developed to better understand the material which is now circulating.
