Résumé du colloque

Incorporation of phenylalanine into protein of rat brain ribosomes decreases with the age of the rat while that into rat liver ribosomes increases with age. It is shown that this change in brain is accompanied by a progressive decline in the concentration of polyribosomes and in liver by a progressive increase in their concentration. These conclusions are based on the results of two types of experiments (a) by measuring the incorporation of phenylalanine by ribosomes in the presence and in the absence of Poly-U (b) by comparing the sucrose density gradient distribution of ribosomal preparations which were separately treated with Poly-U and RNase.
