Résumé du colloque

Berlin Urban Vernacular (BUV) is one of the most studied urban dialects in Germany (Johnson 1995, Schlobinski 1987, Schönfeld 1989). Since the reunification of East and West Berlin, Schlobinski & Schönfeld have done research on phonological variation in BUV, language evaluations and attitudes. In the special case of r-vocalisation (e.g. [fa:tå]) we tried to find out if and how the vowel quality of / A / is differentiated between East and West Berlin. Spectrographic Analysis allowed us to prove differences in the perception of spoken language in East and West Berlin. I will present the results of our investigation, which are founded on studies on general language attitudes after the Wende.
