Sympathetic blockade by acetylcholine

Résumé du colloque

The blocking effects of acetylcholine (ACh) on the pressor responses of mesenteric arteries to stimulation of their sympathetic nerves have been investigated in the perfused superior mesenteric arteries of the rat. Arteriolar constriction and increased perfusion pressure responses produced by sympathetic stimulation are blocked by acetylcholine in concentrations as low as 2 ng/ml. This blockade is abolished by pretreatment with atropine, and appeared similar to the block produced by guanethidine. These observations will be discussed.
