Résumé du colloque

This presentation reports on qualitative and quantitative analyses of the learning processes, of 120 high school students during exchange programmes focused on multicultural, anti-racist education in various Canadian cities. Findings describe five topics of learning and six learning processes common to these exchanges; determine that students perceived significant changes to have occurred in reference to their personal, psychological knowledge and skills (but not their capacities to act in local societal contexts); and document certain impacts that parents and teachers indirectly associated with this programme perceived to have taken place in schools, homes, and communities after the programme was completed. These findings are discussed in reference to the value of schools continuing similar exchanges across Canada as well as developing locally-based policies and programmes for multicultural education and long-term, grounded approaches to evaluating these innovations.
