Résumé du colloque

When grown on galactose, isoleucine medium at a high (37°) temperature, Streptomyces venezuelae ISP5230 produces a series of novel polyketide metabolites including the modified benzanthraquinone antibiotic, jadomycin and its glucoconjugate, jenomycin. These compounds appear as early as 10 hours after inoculum, harvested from complex medium, is used to initiate galactose / isoleucine production cultures. Jadomycin/ jenomycin yields show strong dependence on inoculum size. The effects on antibiotic yields of altering other growth/ nutritional parameters, such as temperature, phosphate availability and the nature and concentration of the carbon source, will be discussed.
