During the last five years, the Physical Science Study Committee, consisting largely of university and high school physics teachers, has designed a new high school physics course. This course, which has been tried out extensively in the United States, uses several different teaching aids to clarify the structure of physics and its development. The role of educational films will be discussed in the light of this experience. Their use will be related to the overall purposes of the course and to the use of textbook and laboratory in particular. How laboratory apparatus is employed to give direct visual experience will be demonstrated briefly, and several pieces of film designed for different teaching functions will be shown. ** La conférence de M.
