High resolution seismic reflection data and samples provide information on the distribution, thickness and composition of the Quaternary sediment units of southeastern Hudson Bay. Three Quaternary sediment units have been identified and mapped, representing glacial till, glaciolacustrine/marine, and post-glacial marine and estuarine sediments. The uppermost unit, comprising post-glacial marine sediments, covers seventy-five percent of the study area. Sidescan sonar and seismic reflection data indicate that the distribution of these sediments is influenced by the outcrop of steep bedrock scarps.
