The operation of a towed bird time domain electromagnetic system involves the measurement of decaying secondary electromagnetic fields induced in the ground by a series of short pulses of current generated from an aircraft mounted transmitter. Variation in the decay characteristics are analyzed and interpreted to provide information about the subsurface structure.
