What others think and feel is important to how we regulate our behavior, how we think of ourselves, and our attitudes towards them. It is often thought that imaging the thoughts and feelings of others is relevant to morality primarily through the production of empathy. For instance, empathy is thought to play an important role in motivating harm norms. Comparatively speaking, imagining what others think of us has been regarded as less important in motivating moral norms. This paper focuses on this contribution to ethics of the imagination and empathy.
