This presentation will provide a broad context examining key issues around Indigenous Peoples and the mining sector, with a focus on South America. It will touch on relevant international human rights instruments, discuss a variety of international initiatives relevant to Indigenous Peoples and the extractives sector, and briefly reflect on Canada’s recent national roundtable process on mining in developing countries.
