The cultural legacy from the indigenous ancestors and the colonial cruelties have made of Latin America a very particular region regarding the traditional backgrounds of genders social behavior. This region is for instance known for the “macho” image of men that leads to male chauvinism. From a cultural perspective where religion plays an important role, there is a widespread assumption that masculinity is superior to femininity.
