Correlation between intraocular vascularization and retinal structure in some fishes of Gaspé
quote

Correlation between intraocular vascularization and retinal structure of species mentioned is discussed. In Acipenser oxyrhynchus, intraocular vessels arise as two thin loops from lens muscle and supply the lower portion of lens capsule. In Anguilla rostrata, numerous fine arterial capillaries dip into retina. Hemitripterus americanus has a few thin vessels on temporal side. Hippoglossoides plattessoides and Hippoglossus hippoglossus (only vascularization studied) have fine vessels covering major portion of retina. Leptagonus decagonus has a few vessels in middle of fundus. Circulation in Lycode sp. is more profuse than in Macrozoarces americanus. Osmerus mordax has concentrically disposed vessels on entire fundus.
