The characteristics of secondary emission by electrons from Be, BeCu and Cu have been measured by a radial potential field method. The percentage of low energy secondary electrons is found to be a maximum at the primary energy of maximum yield. Sensitization of BeCu shows a new group of secondary electrons produced which require a positive voltage for their removal. The energy distribution curves indicate a dual mechanism for the yield of sensitized BeCu. Investigation with different stages of activation give some indications of the mechanism of sensitization.
