The reproductive Behaviour of the Brook Stickleback Eucalia inconstans (Kirtland)
quote

During the winter months the brook stickleback normally school but in the spring the males first become aggressive and maintain territories after which they construct a nest. Females are induced to enter the nest and deposit eggs, after which the male shows parental behaviour until the young are free swimming. The elaborate ritualized courtship behaviour has been observed and is found to be intimately bound up with the central nervous processes that control aggression and nest building. The courtship behaviour can also be used as a taxonomic tool.
