Elemental analysis, by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), of archaeological materials is often helpful in resolving specific archaeological problems. Elemental analysis provides chemical fingerprints that may be used to sort artifacts of similar, or different, compositions. Over the past two decades, the low neutron flux SLOWPOKE reactor at the University of Toronto has been used to analyze many different archaeological materials, including ceramics, lithics, bone, copper, iron and glass.
