The aim of this paper is to offer an analysis of the role of public mediation in the production, and articulation of national formations. The research traces an elaborated analysis of the link between cultural policies, cultural production, social discourse and the space of national "identitaries". In particular, it will be argued that the actions of regulation and cultural production of the state, both directly and "at a distance", need to be analysed within the terms of a broader mediational formation productive of the poles of intercultural debates.
