Approaches to cases in contemporary schools of grammatical semantics are reviewed, and the basic findings concerning the meaning of cases in Indo-European languages are presented. Emphasis is put on the treatment of cases in Cognitive Linguistics. Guillaume’s position on cases in the theory of Psychomechanics is also discussed.
