In general, cellulase is produced on pure cellulose. Very little research has been done to use crude sources of cellulose such as wood. The present study deals with lignocellulosic material (Chemithermomechanical pulp: CTMP) as a substitute for pure cellulose. The cellulase produced by growing mutant Trichoderma reesei QMy-1 in a CTMP solution gave filter paper activity (FPA) of 2.5 IU/ml at an optimal pH of 6.
