A summary will be presented on research work conducted as part of the climate research program concerning the use of MSS data, especially thermal infra-red, to analyze patterns of surface energy exchange for 1) urban areas (Montréal and Vancouver) and 2) sea ice in Northern Baffin Bay. 1) Satellite imagery from HCMM was analyzed for the two urban areas of Montréal and Vancouver. From this imagery regional metropolitan maps of day/night temperatures were constructed for a 900 km² area.
