Continuous monitoring of the seismically active Charlevoix zone has been carried out with the aid of a 6 stations microearthquake seismic array since late 1977. A large set of existing data may be used to obtain the focal mechanism of these microearthquakes. Up to now, only a limited amount of focal mechanism have been reported. Recently, a variety of numerical experiments on the inversion of synthetic seismograms demonstrated that focal mechanisms can be determined accurately with data from a few seismic stations providing proper azimuthal coverage.
