The ion paired complex of silver with 1,10 phenanthroline and tetraphenylborate adsorbs quantitatively onto microcrystalline naphthalene over a wide pH range (1.5-11.0). Based on this, a new chromatographic flame atomic absorption method for trace silver has been developed. The chromatographic absorbent is synthesized in the laboratory that comprises of preabsorbed 1,10 phenanthroline and tetraphenylborate in appropriate proportions (1:1).
