Based on a limited amount of information that is inconsistent with the current model for the Late Wisconsinan glacial history of southern New Brunswick, an alternative, largely nonsecular, model is proposed. This model calls for full glaciation of the Central Plateau of the Caledonian Highlands, rather than partial glaciation as in the current model. Initial ice retreat was due to calving into rising marine waters. In the Bay of Fundy, the ice margin retreated to a position approximately coincident with the present coastline.
