As reflected in the title of our undergraduate teaching degree - “Early Childhood and Elementary Education”- early childhood education is an integral part of our teacher education program at Concordia University. My purpose will be to share what I see as the value of including a focus on early years in our program.I will discuss how our five teaching internships are organized such that students work with children progressively through the developmental stages, i.e., from preschool (3-5 year olds) through Grade 6.
