Children with specific learning disorder in reading, also referred to as reading impairment or dyslexia, struggle to read words fluently and/or accurately. In bilingual contexts, there is much debate over whether these children can or should read in more than one language. The debate centres on whether reading in a second language (L2) will overly burden a child who already struggles to read in one language.
